proACT: what's next?

proACT was established with the objective of getting an Independent Senator elected to represent the ACT. Well we achieved that by endorsing David Pocock and supporting his campaign!

So we asked you what next and have received some great ideas - now it’s time to talk through our options and discuss what proACT should get up to next! Territory elections? Civic education around the senate and elections? Wind up? All options are on the table.

Join us to have your say and shape the future of proACT!

How did David Pcocock win the second seat? All the experts said it was ‘impossible’!

We’ll break down the numbers, look at the booths and talk some strategy. We’ll look at where David won his votes and what the swings looked like across the ACT.

proACT kicked this campaign off a bit over a year ago. Let’s celebrate getting an Independent Senator in to represent us by diving into some numbers!

Register below and we will send a Zoom link on Sunday!

A picnic in the park with Pocock

Come and meet David Pocock over a sausage or two at Lennox Gardens on Saturday 22 January. This is a relaxed chance before the campaign proper kicks-in to meet David, ask him about issues that are important to you and celebrate what proACT has achieved in 8 short months.

Bring a friend (and a rug, a bottle of wine or a beer if you’d like) and enjoy a quiet afternoon by the lake talking politics and the year ahead.

This is an outdoor event, but we will have a COVID-safe plan in place and will require people to register and sign in upon arrival.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Big Deal: Is our democracy for sale? Panel discussion

PANEL DISCUSSION ONLY - movie is sold out

A consistent issue raised during our ACTive Conversations is the need for more integrity in our federal parliamentary system. We believe that Parliament is not operating as effectively, as fairly or as ethically as it can and should; and trust is being undermined.

That’s why we are delighted to hold a panel discussion about the issue of money in politics, as raised in Big Deal - a new movie from Craig Reucassel.

Hosted by Alex Sloan and featuring Craig Reucassel, Richard Denniss (Australia Institute) and Clare Doube (proACT) the panel will discuss integrity in politics and the ‘pay to play’ mentality that pervades Australian politics.

A Zoom link for the panel discussion will be provided on the day.
